...yeh, guess I'm back to writing bout that bitch again... love/hate or bitter/sweet... she fuckin kills me...

Candles

In a world of darkness, two stubborn flames,
Nameless candles united in pain,
Both bathing in blame…
…refraining from shame,
Separate existence yet one and the same,
Aimless persistence, alone in this game,
Wind often blew, yet the fighting remained,
So still our lighting sustained,
Divided we stand, burnt against the grain…

Together we’d melt,
Outcasts forever for how cards were dealt,
…yet discussions aplenty,
Similarities meant we…
…always were felt,
Emotionally we stood,
…my bones and your blood,
Surviving in harmony even when we knelt…

But as time passed by,
Our wax combined like a dye,
…merging and blending,
Never dry, always dripping,
Never ending…
Symbolic of tears that we’d cry,
Later in life, when lies became rife,
We’d act hollow and trife,
Strife cut us deep like a knife,
And this was supposed to be my wife?

So you left… relocated,
But it was too late,
...we had mated,
And I aren’t instigating your hatred,
I want to move on,
But I can’t since we dated,
The flames have faded,
But our wax has set,
And despite our regret,
...it can’t be separated…

wow...i wish i had thought of that. it feels like you throw in fillers because the rhyme scheme fits it or somethin', but i get that sometimes in your pieces.

Later in life, when lies became rife,
We’d act hollow and trife,
Strife cut us deep like a knife,
And this was supposed to be my wife?

like there, i thought you could've approached that part better. but really, the metaphor was superb. i wanted to use this subject of a candle and love but didn't know how to approach it and you definately did this better than i could've. my favorite part was what i copied/pasted at the top, the closure. that just said everything you seemed to have wanted to say. and i know how that feels too. so it makes me enjoy this piece even more. as you mentioned in your feed, it seems as though we both are goin' through the same situation, or we went (past-tense). haha. this piece strikes a personally note to me. keep it up man

DOUBLE L!!

"My belief is that art should not be comforting; for comfort, we have mass entertainment, and one another. Art should provoke, disturb, arouse our emotions, expand our sympathies in directions we may not anticipate and may not even wish. Art should certainly aspire to beauty, but there are myriad sorts of beauty: the presentation of a subject in the most economical way, for instance; a precise choice of language, of detail."
