View Full Version : Beyoncé leads MOBO 2006 nominations

R&B superstar Beyoncé Knowles leads this year’s MOBO Awards with four nominations, whilst the UK’s own Corinne Bailey-Rae and Kano are just behind with three nominations each. Beyoncé is up against Mary J. Blige and Nelly Furtado for Best International Female Artist, while she will also compete for Best Song, Best Video and Best R&B Act.

Corinne Bailey-Rae is nominated for Best UK Female, Best UK Newcomer and Best Song for ‘Put Your Record On’, where she will face competition from acts including Gnarls Barkley and Mary J. Blige. Kano fights for the titles of Best UK Male, going against Sway, Nate James, Lemar and Plan B, as well as being up for the awards of Best Video (‘Brown Eyes’) and Best Hip Hop.

Other acts nominated for this year’s Music Of Black Origin Awards include: Busta Rhymes, Jay-Z, Alicia Keys, Rihanna, Lady Sovereign and Fundamental ’03. The awards ceremony will be broadcast live on BBC3 at 9pm on September 20, and repeated two days later on BBC1.
